Back to the Beginning!
Today's children are growing up in a world of constant noise, screens, and structured enrichment. Every hour is optimised. Every activity has a learning outcome. Every moment is a product to be captured and shared.
This summer camp is a deliberate step back from all of that.
Each week, children step into one of the great human stories — not through explanation, but through experience.
In exploring the origin of writing they discover that writing began as a simple, urgent need: to leave a mark. Children move through this lineage by hand — shaping charcoal, cutting quills, eventually meeting the mechanical permanence of the typewriter — not to rehearse history, but to feel the weight of the question each tool was trying to answer.
In tracing the origin of painting, they discover that colour was not decoration — it was testimony. Early humans ground stone and earth not for beauty alone, but to say I was here. I saw this. This mattered.
At this age, children do not need concepts handed to them. They need the chance to arrive at them — to feel the aha before they have the words for it.
This camp offers exactly that: unhurried time, natural materials, and the quiet understanding that the world isn’t fixed — it’s something they can understand, question, and shape.
